Hindu association Of WA calling EXPRESSIONS OF INTERESTS-RESIDENT PRIESTS\

Formal Vedic and Agamic qualification, preferably from an established Priests’ Training Institution (Veda Padasalai).

Good understanding of Hindu principles, practices and philosophies.

Hands-on training in conducting Temple poojas.

Experience: (3 years + Preferred)

Conduct of daily and special abishekams and poojas in a Temple.

Conduct of havans for the various Deities.

Conduct of poojas and havans in devotees’ homes

Participation in consecration ceremonies

Alangaram of Deities.(Alankara Shiromani  preferred)

Preparation of Neivethium (food offerings) for Deities

Language skills:

Demonstrated ability to read and speak English.

Demonstrated ability to read and chant Sanskrit.

Demonstrated ability to converse in at least one other Indian language (Tamil, Hindi, etc.)

Personal Characteristics and Inter-personal skills:

Ability to relate to the diverse range of devotees of the Temple.

Ability to manage and respond to requests and feedback from Management and devotees.

Ability to carry out his duties independently and as a member of a team.

Ability to adopt and manage Hindu religious practices in Western culture society

 Be of exemplary character befitting the position of the Priest in a Hindu Temple and should be vegetarian and abstain from alcohol, tobacco and drugs.
