Ekadasa Rudra Homam

August 30, 2020 @ 5:30 am - 12:30 pm

Invitation to Participate in the Ekadasa Rudra Havan (Homam)
Sunday 30th August 2020

The Vedic hymn Sri Rudram is the oldest listing of the various names of Lord Shiva. Through the chanting of Sri Rudram, Lord Shiva’s various attributes and aspects are revered and worshipped. Chanting the Rudram and listening to the chanting are considered to be of great benefit to devotees. When the chanting is accompanied with the Vedic fire ritual, it is called Rudra Homam. Eleven recitations of the Sri Rudram followed by one recitation of the Chamakam are called as Ekadasa Rudram. The power available during the performance of this Yagna is of such a high magnitude that it is said the sick become well, the unmarried find ideal mate, debts are removed, wealth and power are showered, and death is evaded. The Perth Hindu Temple is organising the Ekadasa Rudra Havan (Homam) on Sunday 30th August 2020.  This falls in the Hindu Month of Shravan (Aavani in Tamil Nadu), which is considered as an auspicious month to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. The Havan (Homam) will commence at 6.45 am with Ganesha Pooja, and expected to conclude by 12.15pm. Devotees are invited to participate in the Ekadasa Rudra Havan (Homam).

Three families can participate with the Priests for recitation of one Anuvaka (Chapter) of the Sri Rudram. There are eleven Chapters thus sponsorship will be limited to 33 families. The fee for sponsorship is $101 per family, and includes contribution towards the Anathanam/Prasadam for all devotees at the end of the Havan (Homam).

Other Devotees can participate in the final Purnahuti, for a fee of $15 per tray.
